Following a fire that severely damaged approximately 50% of the existing split-level home, this restoration project became an opportunity to not only rebuild, but to reimagine the home for greater comfort, functionality, and modern living. The architectural response honors the original structure while introducing new spaces and features that enhance the overall livability and aesthetic of the residence.
A key component of the restoration was the addition of a bright, airy sunroom, strategically placed to capture natural light and provide a year-round connection to the outdoors. The kitchen and breakfast area were significantly enlarged to accommodate the needs of a growing household and to create an open, welcoming hub for daily activity and entertaining. The adjacent dining room was reconfigured to better integrate with the new layout, offering improved flow and expanded usability.
On the private side of the home, the primary suite underwent a transformative expansion. Tucked beneath a newly constructed attic-level addition, the reimagined suite includes a luxurious walk-in shower, a deep soaking tub, and twin vanities—creating a spa-like retreat within the home. The use of attic space allowed for a more spacious and secluded layout, while maximizing the home’s footprint without compromising the surrounding landscape.
Additional bedrooms were also enlarged and updated, providing more generous and comfortable spaces for family members or guests.
To complete the transformation, a new two-level rear deck was added, offering expanded outdoor living and entertaining opportunities. The deck seamlessly connects the interior with the backyard, enhancing the home's relationship with its natural setting and extending its usable space.
