This residential transformation reimagines a modest 1,800-square-foot 1940s brick home as a generous and thoughtfully detailed 3,800-square-foot Craftsman-style residence. The design approach centered on preserving the spirit of the original structure while seamlessly integrating new square footage through a carefully proportioned two-story addition and reconfigured interior layout.
Exterior upgrades include the introduction of hallmark Craftsman elements: deep roof overhangs with exposed rafter tails, tapered columns on stone piers, shake siding accents, and a welcoming covered front porch. The palette of natural materials - wood and brick - was selected to complement the home’s original masonry and to root the expanded structure within its surrounding context.
Inside, the home has been fully reprogrammed to support contemporary family life. The main floor now features an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living space with ample natural light and handcrafted detailing. A new primary suite and additional bedrooms are located on the upper floor, along with flex spaces for work, study, or play. Custom built-ins, warm wood finishes, and artisanal millwork celebrate the craftsmanship synonymous with the style.
